I have been experimenting with underpainting in watercolor. For it to work and how well it will work depends on the gesso and the preparation of the painting panel. I have used many different materials for underpainting my pieces in the past. I was pleasantly surprised how well watercolor worked. I began my career as a watercolorist, but haven't worked with it in over 20 years. I always had in the back of my mind to try it for underpainting. This batch is small paintings. The primary reason was to tweak out my gesso and develop a feel for working with watercolor again. The secondary reason was that I needed small paintings.
