Paintings Archive 4/14

This past year I continued painting mostly small pieces. I had unexpected success with miniatures. The Miniature Art Society Show in Clearwater was a treat. The response to my work was really nice and I won an award which qualified me to be included in their catalogue. I did manage to finish a few of the paintings that had been on the shelf for far too long. They sold quickly and that has renewed my confidence and desire to produce good work. I created another web site and linked my sites together making it easy to go from finished paintings to the Studio or Posts. Chasrowe-posts acts as a hub with links to my sites and social media pages. It has a more varied style that allows for short commentary on some of the stuff I'm involved with. I like the format.

Completed Paintings

Gulf Coast

16" x 24"

Ernie Simmons and I spent a night out on the Chassahowitzka River and this will be a painting from that trip. If I can pull it off it should be pretty cool.

Maine

9" x 14"

This is a commissioned painting of Maine. I usually don't do commissioned pieces. It is often difficult to see in a reference photo what makes it significant but for the people commissioning the work it contains a lot of emotional content. It will be my job to find that and create something that will stand on its own as a painting

A small egg tempera painting. I am looking to find the space in a small painting before trying my hand at a miniature for the Miniature Art Society exhibit this winter

3 Sisters Springs

18" x 14"

This is a different view of 3 Sisters Springs. I thought it might work well with an underpainting in ink. I have an idea for something a little different, but I don't know if it will work or not. I have a long way to go to find out.

Weeki Wachee River

32" x 24"

This is the last of a series of paintings done on canvas. I was surprised how different working on a rough surface was when compared to working on a smooth panel. There was more freedom to work out ideas as I painted. If something didn't work I could paint it out. Panel painting is more a sequence of steps to completion. If I need to remove something I reach for the sandpaper.
